The American Society of Psychoanalytic Physicians is an organization of physicians established
for non-profit education, scientific, and professional purposes. The Society provides scientific meetings and a scientific bulletin to foster its aims and to share its goals, namely research, evaluation of treatment, dissemination of information,
to publish and to recognize achievement and provide professional and collegial opportunities among its members. The Society operates two chapters in addition to the National organization.
The Washington, D.C. Chapter works jointly with the Washington Center for Psychoanalysis to offer CME meetings in the Washington,
D.C. area. The New York Chapter offers the annual Sigmund Freud Award and conducts other scientific meetings throughout
the year. Membership in the Society includes many benefits such as invitations to scientific meetings, subscription to our scientific
bulletin, and opportunities to publish professional articles. For individuals who qualify, the Society also sponsors

News 2009-2010 National Officers
At the National Council Meeting held June 28, 2009, the
Council confirmed the election of the 2009-2010 national officers. The Society is pleased to announce that Ahron Friedberg,
M.D. assumed duties as National President. Dr. Friedberg succeeds Martin A Funk, M.D. in this capacity. Eric Steckler,
M.D., current Washington DC Chapter President, is the National President-Elect while John Davies, M.D. continues as National
Secretary\Treasurer. Wayne Blackmon, M.D., J.D. remains National Editor. Congratulations to all our National Officers!
